The GMC Sierra and the RAM 1500 are actually very similar in price. The starting price of the GMC Sierra base trim-level is about $2,500 more than that of the RAM 1500, which is a sizable chunk, but at their upper range they become fairly similar. When it comes to warranty however, while both models offer a 36-month/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, the GMC Sierra has a longer 72-month/100,000-mile corrosion warranty. If you are concerned about damage caused by road salt on New Town streets, you won’t have to worry as much with the GMC Sierra. 

GMC Sierra 1500 vs. RAM 1500: Performance Specs 

Both the Sierra 1500 and the RAM 1500 offer a handful of engine options. These engine options allow you a choice of horsepower and torque that can be fine tuned to your needs on the roads of Bottineau. The RAM 1500 has the engine with the highest horsepower available of the two, but only on its most expensive model. The GMC Sierra on the other hand offers a maximum of 420 horsepower with its engines, but they are available on the cheaper models. You can compare them in more detail below:

• 395-hp 5.7L HEMI V8 engine rated at 410 lb-ft of torque 
• 395-hp 5.7L HEMI V8 engine with eTorque rated at 410 lb-ft of torque 
• 702-hp 6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8 engine rated at 650 lb-ft of torque (RAM 1500 TRX only) 

GMC Sierra 1500 vs. RAM 1500: Towing 

When it comes to towing, the 2021 RAM 1500 maximum towing capacity is higher by about 950 pounds compared to the GMC Sierra. Here they are:

• RAM 1500 Maximum Towing Capacity: 12,750 pounds
• GMC Sierra 1500 Maximum Towing Capacity: 11,800 pounds

Keep in mind however that that maximum towing capacity is only available on the TRX, which costs $9,000 more than the highest GMC Sierra 1500 trim. You have to decide whether it’s worth the extra cost for the sake of hauling around Bottineau.
