A new year means a new generation of vehicles gearing up to get out on the road, and your local GMC Sierra 1500 dealer here at Ryan Buick GMC will have some of the most exciting offerings for 2023 on full display. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is starting the year off right by bringing back the things we all love while keeping things fresh with features and editions that will debut with the new model year. True to the GMC brand, the Sierra 1500 is offered in a wide variety of trims to suit a range of drivers and budgetary needs. It has eight trims total, each bringing something unique to the Sierra 1500 experience. To help you find the pickup that’s just right for you, we’ve compiled a breakdown of each trim offered with the Sierra 1500.

The Pro

The base model Pro starts things off with a 2.7-liter turbocharged high-output engine, producing 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. The engine option is eligible for an upgrade to the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8. The 2023 Sierra 1500 Pro also has a 60/40 folding rear seat and a 60/40/20 folding front bench seat, so passengers and cargo can be accommodated in a number of different ways. Innovative safety features like automatic emergency braking are standard across all trims, as is a following distance indicator and an HD rear vision camera. The Pro keeps the price affordable by leaving off comfort and convenience features that will be standard in some of these other trims, but there are several available upgrades for drivers looking to pick and choose between their favorite features.

The SLE

When visiting your local GMC dealer, you will find that the SLE comes standard with the same 2.7-liter turbo; however, it can also come with the 5.3-liter V8 or the 3.0-liter Duramax Turbodiesel, the latter of which comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Its infotainment system is upgraded to include a 13.4-inch touchscreen, and the driver information display is sized up to 12.3 inches. The SLE also has 10-way power adjustable driver seats, with the driver’s seat equipped with power lumbar support. Comfort is elevated with features like dual-zone automated climate control, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel, and features like hitch guidance camera view and cruise control are also standard.

The Elevation

Next up is the Elevation. Its engine offerings are the same as the SLE, but the Elevation’s transmission can be upgraded to include an electronic precision shift, which offers a digital shifting experience. This frees up some space in the cabin and creates smooth and responsive shifting. It includes a full-sized spare tire, and the wheels are enlarged to 20 inches and painted a high-gloss black. Other exterior styling upgrades are tacked on with the Elevation like body-matching bumpers and door handles that create a cohesive look. The fog lamps get the LED treatment, and a standard rear window defogger will come in handy during colder weather. Opting for the Elevation also opens up access to more premium features that can be opted into for an additional price, like wireless charging and bucket seats with leather accents.

The SLT

The SLT brings a heightened sense of luxury to the 2023 Sierra 1500. It comes standard with an upgraded engine, the 5.3-liter V8, producing 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque for a maximum towing capacity of 11,200 lbs. It’s the first Sierra in this trim lineup that can be upgraded to the larger 6.2-liter V8, too. Both front seats are upgraded to include 10-way power controls plus two-way power lumbar support. For those who plan on putting their Sierra 1500 to work, the SLT has the most trailering assistance technology in its class.

The AT4

After the SLT, we start to see more specialization in the trim lineup. Starting off is the Sierra 1500 AT4. The AT4 trim may sound familiar since other GMC vehicles have donned the badge to signal off-roading chops. It suits the Sierra 1500 particularly well, with features like a 2-inch factory lift for boosted ground clearance. It also has a 2-speed AutoTrac transfer case and an automatic locking rear differential, which help maximize torque when you need it most. The AT4 upgrades the Sierra 1500’s hardware for extra durability, adding skid plates and off-roading tires. The AT4 also comes standard with the 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel, which generates 305 hp and a whopping 495 lb-ft of torque.

The Denali

While the AT4 makes off-roading its area of expertise, the Denali is all about luxurious comfort. It’s another familiar trim that can be seen across several GMC models, and it always means bringing the best as far as premium features go. When paired with the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500, the Denali trim means high-end materials, like open-pore wood, perforated-leather seating, and patterned aluminum trim. It also unlocks access to SuperCruise, GM’s hands-free driver assistance technology, and a 15-inch heads-up display. It has adaptive damping standard, so the suspension will actively adjust based on road conditions for a ride that’s as comfortable as possible. The exterior of the Sierra 1500 Denali channels the ultimate in GMC luxury, with a boldly oversized front fascia and plenty of chrome accents.

The AT4X

The AT4X, as the name implies, builds off of the AT4 trim, elevating the Sierra 1500 for even more off-roading capability. Its standard engine is the 6.2-liter V8, producing 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. It has front and rear e-locking differentials, which helps to maximize traction on tricky terrain. It has Multimatic spool-valve dampers, so your ride quality won’t be compromised even if the road is. The AT4X isn’t all business, and the interior also sees some major upgrades. For example, the front seats are heated and ventilated and include a massage function. It also sees the inclusion of premium materials, like full-grain leather for the seats and accents, as well as real ash wood trimmings. New for the 2023 model year, the AT4X collaborates with AEV for the available AEV edition. It includes body armor from the experts in all things adventure, like a steel front bumper and skid plates.

The Denali Ultimate

Topping off the trim lineup for the Sierra 1500 is the Denali Ultimate. Just like the AT4X elevates the AT4 trim, the Denali Ultimate plays off the Denali to take luxury to the highest level. The interior is decked out in innovative tech, with a 12.3-inch driver information display, 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, and 15-inch heads-up multicolor display all coming standard. Its audio is also upgraded to a 12-speaker system from Bose, which includes surround sound and is designed to make the inside of the Denali Ultimate sound like a concert hall.

There is no skimping on materials inside, with plenty of leather, wood, and suede to go around. A topographical map of Mt. Denali is embossed on materials throughout the cabin, and the front seats are upgraded to include 16 power adjustments, including massage. The Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate is sure to stand out on the road thanks to trim-exclusive design features, like Vader Chrome accents, which are a sophisticated, darker take on chrome.
