The 2024 GMC Sierra HD is an absolute beast of a truck. This vehicle has a massive towing capacity as well as a high payload rating. When you’re looking for a truck designed to get some serious work accomplished, the Sierra HD is a great choice. The toughness of this truck may make you think that the interior must be rugged as well, but think again. GMC prides itself on producing luxurious trucks so you can enjoy the comfort and high-tech features usually only found in smaller vehicles.

The seven available trim options make the 2024 Sierra HD highly customizable. Whether you enjoy off-road driving, find yourself towing large trailers, or just need a work truck, GMC has options for you. The engineers and designers at GMC have been perfecting the Sierra for decades, making the 2024 model a highly refined design. Ryan Buick GMC is your North Dakota GMC dealer, and we know the value of a reliable truck designed for strong performance in winter and summer alike.

A Potent Powertrain and Excellent Exterior

The 2024 Sierra HD features a potent powertrain utilizing either a 6.6L V8 gas engine or a 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel V8 engine. The Duramax has a new turbo design which substantially improves the performance of this engine compared with the 2023 model. Its 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque can now tow up to 22,500 lbs with the Sierra 2500 HD and up to 36,000 lbs with the Sierra 3500 HD. To put that in perspective, the 2024 Sierra 3500 HD only weighs 7,661 lbs in its regular cab diesel dually configuration, which means it can pull 470% of its own weight. The Allison 10-speed gearbox that now comes standard with the Sierra HD is known to be a long-lasting and smooth transmission. Easy to drive, powerful, and durable. It makes perfect sense why the Sierra HD is a popular choice for hard-working Americans.

Who Said a Truck Should Be Uncomfortable?

Many trucks are very functional but are known for being rather sterile regarding interior comforts. While modern trucks have improved in this regard, they are still often known for putting functionality over comfort. GMC didn’t think that the Sierra needed to follow that trend. The interior of the Sierra HD makes other trucks look austere. The seats are pure luxury, especially for the Denali Ultimate trim. The front seats have available 16-way power adjustments and can even include a massage feature. The rear seats also provide a lot of legroom and headroom with the crew cab configuration. While every cab option provides pretty substantial room, the crew cab is definitely the roomiest.

The interior experience isn’t limited to comfortable seats either. The 2024 Sierra HD has an available Bose premium sound system which provides crisp audio and booming bass. These speakers make you feel like your favorite band is playing a live show just for your truck. Few things are better than blasting your favorite song at the end of a long day on the way home. With a class-leading 13.4-inch multimedia touchscreen display, you can easily manage everything and will have ready access to your smartphone through wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Sierra HD also has an available 15-inch head-up display. This means you can project critical vehicle information on the windshield, making it easy to see without compromising your visibility. If you’re looking for a vehicle that functions like a truck on the outside but feels like a luxury car inside, the Sierra HD could be the perfect truck for you.

GMC has also equipped these large trucks with some state-of-the-art driver-assist features to minimize the danger of driving such large vehicles. One of the best of these features is the available 14 camera views. Having this many cameras means being able to navigate very precisely in even difficult circumstances. Driving a vehicle as large as the Sierra HD can be difficult when you’re in a tight space, and having more visibility helps make it easier. Another fun feature is the invisible trailer view. Using the rear cameras, the Sierra HD is able to display a view of what is behind your trailer, making it easy to see when there is another vehicle or obstacle behind you.

Seven Luxury Trim Options

The Sierra HD comes with seven trim options, giving a potential buyer many custom options to make sure the features are well suited to your specific needs. The trim options are the Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. Each one offers certain features which make it unique from the others. From the work-read Pro to the high-end luxury of the Denali Ultimate, GMC has it all.

The Pro is the workhorse of the Sierra HD family. It is designed to be the work truck version of the Sierra HD, complete with the V8 gas engine and all the power you expect from the Sierra HD lineup, but it lacks some of the luxury features. The SLE and SLT both take the luxury up a notch. “SLE” stands for “Special Luxury Edition,” while “SLT” stands for “Special Luxury Touring.” These trucks also come with the power you’d expect from a heavy-duty pickup and can be equipped with the powerful Duramax turbo-diesel engine. These two trims have a 13.4-inch multimedia touchscreen and a 12.3-inch driver information center. Combine the added interior features with the large polished aluminum wheels, and you will have a great-looking and high-performing truck.

The AT4 and AT4X trims are optimized for off-road driving. They feature a lifted off-road suspension, aggressive tires, skid plates, red recovery hooks, and so much more. These trucks are built to perform like a champ when driving off the beaten path, and you should have no trouble getting anywhere with them. The Denali and Denali Ultimate take the luxury features to another level. Leather seats, wood trim, a Bose premium sound system, high-end wheels, and much more make these trucks some of the most luxurious on the market. It is clear that GMC did a great job combining power and luxury when you see the new Duramax turbo-diesel engine in a 2024 Sierra 3500 HD Denali Ultimate.

The 2024 GMC Sierra HD: Where Luxury Meets Function

When you need power but also have a soft spot for comfort and new technology, the Sierra HD is a pretty tempting truck. The engine, transmission, and frame make for a powerful pickup that can haul tens of thousands of pounds. The luxurious massage seats, updated infotainment center, and head-up display make driving the Sierra HD as comfortable as it is powerful. We here at Ryan Buick GMC love the Sierra HD. It is a fantastic truck for North Dakota residents because of its versatility. We all know how harsh North Dakota winters can be, with the snow, wind, and ice.
