GMC Models with Super Cruise
Super Cruise is the auto industry’s first true hands-free driver assistance technology for compatible roads and functions with GMC Connected Services. Super Cruise is available for the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali and standard for the 2024 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate, which is touted as the most advanced and luxurious Sierra ever.
By utilizing this cutting-edge technology, Minot area drivers can extend their travels hands-free on more than 400,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada. With Sierra Denali and Denali Ultimate models, Super Cruise also adds convenient features to complement the experience such as Lane Change on Demand and Automatic Lane Change.
Drivers can even use compatible trucks’ Super Cruise feature to tow a trailer, though the two aforementioned technologies are unavailable while trailering.
How Does Super Cruise Work?
The system uses a data connection from GMC Connected Services for real-time precise positioning and periodic Super Cruise map updates. The GMC’s cameras, sensors and LiDAR map data are used to help the driver stay centered in their lane while driving hands-free. This combination of tech helps detect road positioning, curves, current travel speed and surrounding vehicles.
Additionally, Adaptive Cruise Control operates the vehicle’s acceleration and braking when Super Cruise is enabled, and a Driver Attention System uses a camera integrated on top of the steering wheel column and infrared emitters in the steering wheel to help ensure the driver is paying attention.
